Tapered roller thrust bearings

Thrust tapered roller bearings are special for rolling mill screw-on bearing arrangements. This kind of bearing can form a very compact bearing arrangement in the axial direction, can bear heavy axial loads, is not sensitive to shock loads, and has the characteristics of good rigidity.

The Thrust tapered roller bearings design includes single-direction thrust tapered roller bearings and double-direction tapered roller thrust bearings. One-way thrust tapered roller bearings comprise an outer ring, an inner ring, a one-way thrust roller, and a set of cages (separate type) or seals (integrated type). Bidirectional tapered roller thrust bearings also consist of the outer ring, inner ring, tapered rollers, and cages (separate type) or seals (integrated type).

This kind of bearing is mainly used in heavy load, medium speed, and large axial load application scenarios, such as rolling mills, industrial kilns, and so on.

The characteristics of thrust tapered roller bearings

It can form a very compact bearing arrangement in the axial direction. This bearing can bear a heavy load in axial direction, isn't sensitive to impact load, and has good rigidity.

Thrust tapered roller bearings have a logarithmic contact line between the raceway and the roller, which can ensure the best stress distribution in the bearing, thereby extending the bearing life.

One-way Thrust tapered roller bearings and two-way tapered roller thrust bearings are available to meet different application requirements.

The raw material chosen of thrust tapered roller bearings

The thrust tapered roller bearings materials include bearing steel, carburized steel, etc. Specifically, the inner and outer rings of the bearing are usually made of bearing steel (GCr15), carburizing steel (G20Cr2Ni4A), and other materials. These materials have good hardness and contact fatigue strength, which can ensure the wear resistance and life of the bearing. The rolling elements are usually chromium alloy steel, such as GCr15SiMn, GCr15, etc. These materials have high hardness and good wear resistance. In addition, to meet special application requirements, stainless steel, nylon 66, POM plastic steel, and other materials are sometimes used to manufacture the inner and outer rings or rolling elements of bearings.

It should be noted that the selection of different types of bearing materials will also be different, and the specific selection should be based on the application scenario and working conditions. 

Thrust tapered roller bearings usually use stamped steel or solid strut cages. When the outer diameter of the bearing is less than or equal to 650mm, a stamped steel cage is used; when the outer diameter of the bearing is greater than 650mm, a steel solid pillar cage is used.
