Double-row taper roller bearings are a type of taper roller bearings. It has two outer and inner rings arranged back against the back and separated from the middle partial ring or no circle. Applications: Cement vertical mill rollers, Steel Production Equipment (Roll neck, Vertical Roll Neck, Plate mill, Strip mill, Hot rolling mill, Hot strip mill, Cold rolling mill) Alternative brands: TIMEKN, SKF, Koyo, FAG, NSK
For Double-row taper roller bearings, the contact angle determines the axial bearing capacity. The larger the angle value, the greater the axial bearing capacity. It is mainly used to withstand radial and axial combination loads based on radial loads and can withstand two-way axial loads.
Two basic double-row taper roller bearing styles exist: the two-row converging TDI configuration and the two-row diverging TDO configuration.
Depending on the application, these bearings are made using high chrome through hardening or case-hardened carburizing alloy steels. The cages for FV double-row taper roller bearings are stamped pressed steel, and a steel pin-type cage is also available, which allows a larger complement of rollers for higher capacity.
This style of bearing set simplifies design and reduces the danger of bearing clearance changes due to axial shaft expansion. Therefore, defining the proper internal play related to the application is important.
TDI designs:
TDI design have a double cone assembly and two single cups, and they are generally supplied with a cup spacer. The cup spacer of each bearing is face ground after accurately measuring the distance between adjacent cup faces to obtain a predetermined internal play. Consequently, spacers or components may not be interchanged. An annular groove and lubrication holes are included in the spacer. The contact angle converges, so using these bearings will not appreciably increase the rigidity of the shaft mounting. FV also produces the taper roller steep contact angle TDIS version with higher thrust capacity (while the radial one is reduced) than the TDI type, normally used as backup thrust bearings in rolling mills. These TDIS bearings combine face slots (e.g., N, N1, N2, etc.) and bore key-way for locking the cone on the shaft. Also, helical grooves in the bore and lubrication grooves in the side faces of double cone and retention sleeves with annular grooves and lubrication holes can be provided.
TDO design:
FV bearings in TDO configuration have a double cup and two single cone assemblies and can be supplied with a shaft-supported cone spacer.
The spacer for individual cones faces the ground to obtain the desired internal play for the assembly. So, also, in this case, spacers and components may not be interchanged. An annular groove and oil holes are included in the cone spacer.
The TDO style bearings are mainly used in a floating cup mounting. So, the counterbored hole in the cup is for a drilled dowel pin, which prevents the rotation of the loosely fitted double cup. Additional features of a lubrication groove and oil holes in the double cup for simplified lubrication through the outer ring are included (suffix CD). However, this bearing style is usually lubricated through the shaft using oil holes and a groove in the cone spacer.
In the TDO type, the contact angle diverges, so the rigidity of the shaft mounting is increased to resist overturning moments.
Bearing sets with steep contact angle and intermediate ring, pierced rollers and steel pin-type cage (TDOS design), bearing sets with extended inner rings which abut each other (TDONA and TDONASW designs), bearing sets with heavy wall cup (TNASWH design) and bearing sets with shields of pressed steel (TDO 4422 design) are also in FV manufacturing program.
Most TDI and TDO double-row taper roller bearings are produced with inch dimensions as per American AFBMA 19/1974. As per FV standard practice, dimensional and running accuracy grade is by class 2 or 4.
Double-row taper roller bearings have some unique characteristics
High carrying capacity
Due to the large number of rollers, the double-row taper roller bearings have higher carrying capacity and can withstand larger radial and axial loads.
High-rigidity
The angle of the inner and outer rollers of the double-column cone roller bearings is the same, so it has high rigidity and can withstand larger bending and twisting forces.
High-precision
The inner and outer rings of the double-row taper roller bearings are precisely processed, and the number of contact points between the roller and the roller roads is greater. Therefore, it has high precision and can meet the requirements of high-precision machine tools and precision instruments.
Can withstand heavy composite (radial and axial) load, strong rigidity. Axial fixation can be fixed in both directions with a certain axial gap or preload.
The material for Double-row tapered roller bearing
The material choice of the double-row taper roller bearings is very important because the material of the bearings directly affects its performance and life.
The materials that can be chosen include GCR15, GCR15Simn, GCR18MO, and carburizing steel. These steels have good hardening and abrasion resistance.
For large-sized four-row taper roller bearings, FV Bearing will also use imported carburizing steel according to the actual working conditions of the customer, such as Timken 33311 from the United States, carburizing steel from European OVAKO.
Delivery period of Double-row tapered roller bearing
According to different materials, the delivery period of the double-row taper roller bearings is different.
If choose material GCR15, GCR15SIMN, GCR18MO, the delivery period is 35-40 days
If the chosen material, carburizing steel, is used, the delivery period is 80-90 days.
Application of Double-row tapered roller bearing
Double-row tapered roller bearings are also widely used, mainly including:
Heavy machinery and equipment, such as bridge cranes, extrusion machines, mining equipment, etc.
Equipment with high requirements, such as CNC machine tools, precision instruments, etc.
