The spherical roller thrust bearing is part of the spherical roller thrust bearing group. These single-row, non-self-retaining rolling bearings consist of shaft-locating washers with raceways, shell-locating washers, and rolling elements. The cage guides a large number of asymmetric spherical rollers. Cage and roller assembly and shaft locating washer form a self-retaining unit. The raceway on the shaft washer is arranged obliquely along the direction of the bearing shaft, and the raceway on the housing locating washer is designed in a concave shape. This design allows the bearing to have essential characteristics required in many applications, such as angular adjustability.

Roller contact design

The stress distribution at the contact point between the roller and the raceway is determined by the contact surface of the roller. Therefore, the geometry of the rollers is matched to the raceway, which gives a favorable load distributed on the entire length of the roller, thereby avoiding edge stress concentrations.

Selection and design of cage

There are two types of cages according to different sizes and series. One is a stamped steel window cage, mostly used for bearings with a size of less than or equal to 68 with the suffix E logo; the other is a machined metal fork cage, mostly used for bearings marked with the suffix E for sizes 72 and above and for bearings without the suffix.
