The spherical roller bearing has two raceways in the inner ring that are inclined at an angle with respect to the bearing axis, one shared spherical raceway in the outer ring, and double-row rollers. It performs well while self-aligning. Even if the installation is not concentric, the bearing can still be utilized normally. The self-alignment of spherical roller bearings is different, which is affected by the bearing size series; the typical permitted self-alignment angle is between 1 and 2.5 degrees. Due to its clever design, it has self-aligning capabilities and is ideal for installation faults or shaft deflection that result in angle errors. As a result, it is not easily impacted by angle errors of the shaft and the bearing housing or shaft bending. The bearing has a high radial load capacity and can support axial loads acting in both directions, making it particularly appropriate for working under severe loads or vibration loads. It can't support pure axial loads, but it has good impact resistance. This type of bearing has an excellent self-aligning performance and can correct the coaxiality fault because the raceway of the outer ring is spherical.

According to the cross-sectional geometry of the rollers, spherical roller bearings are classified into two distinct structures: symmetrical spherical rollers and asymmetrical spherical rollers. This bearing can accommodate higher speed demands and operates at a lower temperature.

The spherical roller bearing has two different types of inner holes: cylindrical and conical. The conical hole is divided into 1:30, which the back code is K30, and 1:12, which the back code is K. It can be classified into two types, C type and CA type, depending on whether the inner ring contains ribs or not and the type of cage being employed. C-type bearings are characterised by no ribs in the inner ring and a stamped steel cage, while CA-type bearings are characterised by ribs on both sides of the inner ring and a machining-solid brass cage.

Users may be given spherical roller bearings with annular oil grooves and three oil holes in the outer ring, designated by the bearing post code W33, to enhance bearing lubrication.

This type of bearing is appropriate for situations where the bearing needs to be installed and disassembled often and can be mounted on the bald shaft without a shaft shoulder. The spherical roller bearings are applied mostly in deceleration devices, railway vehicle axles, rolling mill gearbox bearing housings, rolling mill rolls, crushers, vibrating screens, printing machinery, and woodworking machines, etc.
