TDO:
When it comes to tapered roller bearings, there are a few key features to keep in mind. These bearings have a pair of raceway outer rings and two inner rings, with a spacer ring between the two inner rings. By adjusting the thickness of this spacer ring, you can change the clearance of the bearing. The great thing about these bearings is that they are quick-fit assemblies, meaning adjustments for axial play or preload have already been made during the production phase. Additionally, these bearings are arranged back-to-back so that the load lines diverge towards the bearing axis. This allows the bearings to be used in relatively rigid arrangements, allowing for considerable tilting moments. These bearings are also capable of bearing bidirectional axial load while bearing radial load, and can limit the bidirectional axial displacement of the shaft or housing within the range of axial clearance of the bearing.
TDI:
To obtain a certain axial clearance or preload, you should select the size of the spacer ring for the double raceway tapered inner ring bearing with two sets of roller and cage assemblies and two tapered outer rings.
The double-row tapered roller bearings are designed so that the rollers slide between the raceways, but minimum load requirements are necessary to ensure no slip between the rollers and raceways. Slipage would lead to wear of the contact surfaces and premature failure of the bearing. The unique design of the tapered roller bearing reduces friction and heat during operation, and the tapered shape allows the rollers to transfer the load evenly as they roll, greatly reducing wear and increasing durability. It is now commonly used in rolling mill equipment and gearboxes.
