Characteristics and application of four row tapered roller bearings

Four row tapered roller bearings have been successfully used in bearing configurations for rolling mills around the world with low to medium rolling speeds. Because of its design, the bearing is capable of bearing the axial loads present in this application in addition to the radial loads and generally does not require additional thrust bearings in the bearing configuration.

This means that the roll neck can be relatively short and the bearing block on both sides of the roll can be of the same design. Due to the design of four row tapered roller bearings, this bearing must be mounted as a complete bearing on the roll block. The bearing must be loosely fitted on the roll neck in order to allow rapid roll replacement.

In order to reduce the effect of loose fit to a certain extent, that is, to reduce wear, the bearing has spiral grooves in the inner ring holes and/or oil grooves on the inner ring sides. These tanks deliver lubricant to the contact surface between the inner ring and the base.   

Tapered roller bearings can withstand both radial and axial forces without the need for thrust bearings, so the main engine is more compact. The inner diameter of tapered roller bearing is loosely matched with the roller neck, and it is very convenient to install and disassemble. However, sliding creep is sometimes caused by loose matching, so the inner diameter is often processed with spiral oil groove. This configuration type application is still relatively wide, such as four high hot rolling mill and cold rolling mill work roll, coaxing machine, steel beam mill and other occasions roll.
