For continuous casting machines, roll support bearings are utilized to handle heavy loads and extremely low speeds. These machines operate under severe conditions, resulting in exposure to splashing water and scales.
SCP bearings are used for the fixed side, while SC bearings are used for the free side of the end of rolls, for the intermediate support section of beetle-shaped rolls, such as driving rolls, HSC bearing units with half-round outer rings are used.
FV bearings used in continuous casting machines are designed with maximized static load ratings in mind and based on a full complement cylindrical roller bearing. The rollers of these bearings have a crowning setup on their rolling surface, which varies according to the size of the loads. It helps to eliminate stress concentration issues at specific locations. Moreover, the bearings are equipped with a self-aligning mechanism to counteract roll bending and misalignment resulting from heavy loads.

To accommodate thermal expansion and contraction, the bearing's inner ring is designed to move freely in the axial direction. | A new type of bearing has been developed to improve the short service life of spherical roller bearings, which are commonly used in continuous casting machines. Its structure is unique, featuring a half-round outer ring placed only on the loaded side. This design, along with the compact seal, provides a 15% increase in static load rating compared to conventional products. Additionally, the jacket design regulates the water flow, resulting in high cooling efficiency equivalent to that of conventional products that require a lower water flow rate of 55%. |
