Angular contact thrust ball bearings

FV bidirectional thrust angular contact ball bearings are mostly used for bidirectional axial positioning of the main shaft. These bearings are combined with cylindrical roller bearings of the NN 30 K or N 10 K series and mounted in the same housing bore, simplifying the machining of the housing bore.

Double-direction thrust angular contact ball bearings' nominal inner and outer diameters are the same as the corresponding cylindrical roller bearings. However, the combination of the outer diameter tolerance of the raceway and the recommended housing bore diameter and shape and position tolerances (housing tolerances under standard conditions) for super-precision cylindrical roller bearings allows the housing bore to have an appropriate radial clearance. This clearance prevents the thrust bearing from being subjected to radial loads if the outer ring is not axially compressed in the housing.

Double-direction axial angular contact ball bearings can support axial forces in both directions. High-precision machine tool spindles use Series 2344 and 2347 bearings with metric dimensions. These bearings consist of an axial angular contact ball bearing and a double-row cylindrical roller bearing of series NN30, which supports the radial forces. The axial bearing can be mounted separately in parts. Double-direction axial angular contact ball bearings with inch-size main dimensions and non-standardized designations (Z-5..ASKLZ) were developed for rotary tables in drilling rigs. These bearings consist of an upper bearing that supports loads and a smaller bearing that acts as a counterstay. These bearings can support axial loads and radial and moment loads. • The 2344 and 2347 series double-direction axial angular contact ball bearings are precision bearings with strict tolerances that correspond to class SP. They consist of solid shaft locating washers, a spacer ring, a housing locating washer, and ball and cage assemblies with solid brass cages. All the parts of the bearing are matched to each other and can be mounted separately. However, parts from bearings of the same size cannot be interchanged. These bearings have a contact angle of 60°, which makes them highly rigid and capable of supporting high axial forces in both directions.

• Double-direction precision bearings are especially suitable for precision spindle bearing arrangements in machine tools. In such arrangements, an axial angular contact ball bearing is combined with a double-row cylindrical roller bearing with a tapered bore to support radial forces. The super precision design of series 2344 axial angular contact ball bearings can be mounted on the small diameter of the shaft taper, while those of series 2347 can be mounted on the large diameter of the shaft taper.

• These series of bearings have the same nominal outside diameter as cylindrical roller bearings with NN30..-AS-K designation. However, the outside diameter tolerance is intentionally designed to provide a loose fit when the seats of the axial angular contact ball bearing and the cylindrical roller bearing are machined together.
